Upcoming 2027 Projects

The City of Waconia is planning to reconstruct Highway 5 between Olive Street / Highway 284 and Main Street in 2027. This project is designed to enhance both safety and mobility by adding dedicated turn lanes, reducing conflict points, and completing the extension of the trail system along Highway 5. As the final phase of reconstruction efforts that began in 2012, this project will complete the transformation and urbanization of Highway 5 throughout the community. These improvements will position the corridor to meet current needs and future growth demands.

Project Goals

  • Improve safety for all roadway users
  • Reduce traffic conflict points
  • Increase roadway capacity and efficiency
  • Establish a continuous trail connection
  • Complete the Highway 5 corridor through the city
