Comcast Buildout

This private utility project is being managed by Comcast. Visit their website and click on the Waconia tab for more information. Comcast has set up a designated Waconia email address for questions or concerns related to install: WaconiaConstruction@comcast.com.

The Waconia City Council recently approved a franchise agreement with Comcast. Comcast plans to expand their internet and television services to the Waconia community over the next few years. The project will provide additional choices and capabilities for internet connectivity and television services within the community. However, the community will see impacts to right-of-way during construction of the build-out process.

Project Overview

In July of 2025, Comcast began construction of its cable television and fiber-optic network throughout the city right-of-way (ROW) and utility easements. This project will continue through 2027.

Once construction nears a specific area, residents will see a series of messages before construction activity begins, including mailings, yard signs and door tags. Next, crews will identify and mark underground utilities with temporary landscape-safe paint. Construction will be temporary, and Comcast will do its best to minimize the impact to property.

Comcast has a website dedicated to addressing any questions or concerns residents may have about construction. Visit their Construction center here, or by calling 651-432-3000 to submit a question or concern.  The project manager from Universal Services is Dillon Lewis and he can be reached at 651-247-9397 or dlewis@usi-universal.com. If you are unable to get a response from Comcast or Universal Services, you can reach out to Public Services Technician Jason Clark at 952-856-4496 or jclark@waconiamn.gov

Once available, residents can subscribe for high-speed internet through Comcast by contacting Comcast through their Xfinity webpage.
